Evelyne Rivera, North Regional Organizer
Evelyne was born in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico and moved to Decatur, Alabama with her family when she was just 4 years old. Living most of her life as undocumented, and now as DACAmented, she is very passionate about making a difference for immigrants living in North Alabama. While gaining her bachelors degree at Berea College in Kentucky she had the opportunity to work in a professional capacity with various organizations serving the Latinx and immigrant communities of the area. While there, she acted as director of the Hispanic Outreach Program, providing a range of services in order to bridge the gap between the local Spanish and English speaking communities. Upon graduating, she had the opportunity to work as the Latinx Outreach Coordinator, providing institutional support for Latinx and DACA students at Berea College. Using her professional and leadership experience she gained working in central Kentucky, Evelyne now works as an organizer for ACIJ in Northern Alabama.
